Greenpoint Photo du Jour: Head

If you want to see something interesting go to Commercial Street. There you will find a tree about 70 feet west from the entrance to the Access A Ride facility. Not only has it melded into an adjoining fence, but it has a face! It also has a fifth of some kind liquor bottle incorporated into its trunk. Fascinating.

Head’s Up: How To Make It In America (Without Getting Your Car Towed)
Those of you who live in and around Noble Street and own motor vehicles will undoubtedly find this item (which was posted on a crosswalk sign on Franklin Street) of interest. This upcoming Tuesday, June 7, a company named “Get Yours” will be filming at the above-listed locations. They have been sanctioned to film from (and I quote) 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. and will be bringing in the tow trucks the prior evening (Monday, June 6) at 10:00 p.m. Good times!

New York Shitty Photos du Jour: West Street
Today yours truly had the pleasure of showing the inimitable Kevin Walsh of Forgotten New York around our fair burgh. It was on the corner of West and Huron Street that we bumped this festively dressed group of people. I was told by one of them they were filming a music video for a band called “She Say’s She’s Ms. Blat”. The more curious among you can check out their Myspace page by clicking here!

Spotted On India Street: Fixed!
I am pleased to announce that as of today the misguided East River Ferry sign at the corner of India Street and Franklin Street has been corrected. And as my buddy Tony presciently prognosticated, someone has wasted no time adding a little commentary!

From The New York Shitty Photo Pool: Eshete
This chap is a big favorite of yours truly (real men love cats) and Chris Arnade (who took the above photograph). He writes:
This is the sixth picture I have posted of Eshete, the “catman” of Columbia St. The rest are here.
I have known him now for over three years, walking by almost daily, and look forward to our chats. Despite having some serious issues, he has always been super sweet and nice to me. He is obsessed with his cats, riding his bike from upper Manhattan every day to spend afternoons with them.
I don’t know his full history, I am polite enough not to pry. I do know that he’s had a rough life. He was the only member of his family to survive the Ethiopian civil war and spent many years after as a refugee.
A geography nut, every one of his cats is named after a place: Congo, Damascus, Venice, Rico (Puerto that is), etc.
