From The New York Shitty Inbox: 155 Freeman Street
Some time ago I had reported that an artist’s space was slated to grace the above building. Well, if what I received in my inbox bright and early this morning is any indication, this is at long last going to happen! A chap named Peter Russo writes:
I’m writing to let you know about 155 Freeman, a newly renovated carriage house in Greenpoint. It was announced this past week that the building will house an arts-and-culture venue, opening doors later this summer.
The 2,000 sq. ft. storefront will become the home of Triple Canopy, Light Industry, and The Public School—three arts organizations which collectively present film screenings, musical performances, artist lectures, hands-on workshops, and more. All three groups previously shared a space on Livingston Street in downtown Brooklyn, which was featured in Paper Magazine…
Photos and a walk-through of the space are available upon request.
Feel free to write or call for further information.
Needless to say I was ALL OVER M. Russo’s offer and will be taking a walk-through of this space early next week! In the meantime here is a video from this organization’s Kickstarter page. Enjoy!

This item (which I presume was the handiwork of a Mets fan) can be found outside of Tommy’s Tavern.

New York Shitty Day Ender: M Is For Mighty
Filed under: Crazy Cat Lady, East Williamsburg, East Williamsburg Brooklyn, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Manhattan, New York City
As many of you are undoubtedly aware, yours truly is rather fond of cats. So you can imagine my delight when I spied these images on my friend orangegenius’s Flickr page. “Mighty” (as he is called) is three weeks old and was found alone in the courtyard of an apartment building in East New York. Orangegenius and the above lass, Stephanie, are taking turns bottle feeding him (which has to be done every three hours). Consequently, this little fellow has become quite the subway savvy New Yorker! Orangegenius opines:
Mighty is quite the straphanger. So far, he has ridden the L, G, E, F, M, Q, R, 4, 5 and 6 subway lines. He has also taken the B24, B43 and Q54 buses. He liked the M because we took him out of his shoebox and he got to look around and be fussed over.
I have been told that while not quite ready for adoption just yet Mr. Mighty will be at this weekend’s adoption event at Muddy Paws! Why not swing by and say “Hi”?
Mighty Does Muddy Paws (North Brooklyn Cats Adoption Event)
Sunday June 12th from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.

This hilarious item was brought to my attention by my buddy, Aaron Short. He writes:
Friend of yours?
Yours truly has a lot of friends. This pair do not number of among them. (Yet, anyway.) However, I am friends with someone who knows the folks in this video (including the dominatrix). I have asked her to give me the 411 on what is going in here (e.g.; is this street theater or for reals).
To be continued…?
Update, June 9, 2011: This day has been one cruel defeat after another. First it was my web site crashing— repeatedly— and now this per my tipster:
the dom is not who i thought she was, but i prob have met her. and my guess is that it is for real.
If anyone knows who the woman and her “pet”in this video please have them contact me at missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. Among other things, I have brought this video to the attention of the head mistress of the McCarren Park Dog run. We want to assure this lass that her companion is more than welcome to go off-leash there anytime!
