From The New York Shitty Inbox: Aponte Needs Your Help!
This item comes from my friend Rob over at Dog Habitat/Unleash Brooklyn. He writes:
Hi Heather,
We wanted to bring Aponte’s case to your attention. He is a sweet dog who has spent over 4 years in shelters. (more than half his life). Recently he is under foster care with our friend Howard, who is a terrific foster dad. Unfortunately, from years of inactivity and malnutrition Aponte’s knees need major surgery, each knee will cost $3900. On Tuesday he will go under surgery for the first knee. Howard has managed to raise half the money to pay for the first knee… Aponte is the kind of dog friendly to all humans and dogs and who manages to steal hearts quickly. His story is amazing, and if you could please post this on your site we think we can help Howard reach the goal to pay for the first knee.

When I see something such as this two things come to my mind:
- Wow, things must really be bad if someone has been reduced to stealing garbage bags.
- Clearly the author of this missive has never tried to file a stolen property report at the 94th Precinct.
