Thought Of The Day
My initial reaction when I saw this was:
Some people really should have their ad copy checked before bringing in the sign maker.
Then I thought about it some more and concluded that in this case (which I presume to be accidental) the outcome is far superior to whatever “vision” the owner of this establishment might have had. What a difference one single letter makes!

Greenpoint Pay Phone Du Jour: It’s BAAACK!
Remember the pay phone I wrote about this weekend? Well, the folks at Verizon have seen fit to repair it. I for one find this fascinating given the customer service yours truly has experienced at this organization’s hands. READ: being without telephone and/or Internet service for an entire week and/or until Verizon sees fit to send someone to fix it. I’m guessing this phone makes them a lot of money.

P.S.: Oh yeah, I’d feel remiss if I also didn’t share this select morsel from down the block which I call the “Kielbasa phone”.
Tasty!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Craig Murphey Fellowship Fundraiser

Alix writes:
Wanted to write you a quick note to get a fundraising event on your radar that we are putting on with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger this upcoming Saturday, October 16. Three years ago, a dear friend and community activist Craig Murphey was run down by a truck in Williamsburg as he was biking home. In order to carry on his work in the fight against hunger, the NYCCAH has established a fellowship in his name and each year, with the help of his friends and family, we put on a benefit to raise funds towards the Craig Murphey Fellowship. This year the event will take place at Brooklyn Fire Proof (119 Ingraham St in Bushwick) from 6pm to 1am. There will be a Hummus “cook off” (hummus was Craig favorite food) sponsored by Whisk, live sets by local bands Sweet Tooth Nelson, Tyrhombus Rex, and Gators, followed by DJ a set by Finger on The Pulse. We will also be selling raffle tickets for $5 or $20 for 5 for a chance to win one of nearly 50 prizes donated by local bars, restaurants, artists and musicians.
