New Yorl Shitty Day Ender: Pumpkins
Yes, I realize Halloween has come and gone— but I could not resist posting this irresistible gaggle of Jack o’ lanterns from Huron Street. So there!

New York Shitty Slideshow du Jour: American Graffiti
Today I did something I have longed to do for some time: check out a rather extensive mural located the industrial no man’s land between Long Island City and Sunnyside. As I had long suspected, it was a lot more impressive up close. Although I wasn’t too keen on some of the hawkish content I was really happy I made the walk to see it. Follows is a slide show of the highlights. Enjoy!
As I said before: this is best appreciated in person. Go to the intersection of 35 Street and the Midtown Expressway and see it for yourself!

Jessica writes (in an email entitled “Have you seen this?):
I saw this post today on gothamist, and my jaw just dropped. A megalith tower on freaking India street???? Are the thousand yuppies stupid enough to buy crappy condos for $750,000 all going to crowd onto the G train? A-holes.
To answer Jessica’s question: yes, I have seen this. I was especially amused by this quote from the developer, one Jonathan Bernstein:
We are asking for radical changes to the zoning, but we do think it’s way different than anything that’s been proposed on the waterfront… We think it will be a gateway to Manhattan and Greenpoint.
New York Shitty analysis: it looks like Long Island City ate a business park and took a shit.

Greenpoint Photos du Jour: Tooling Around The Shit Tits
Not surprisingly I have yet to get around to casting my ballot on this most auspicious day. There’s no need to worry, dear readers, I will perform my civic duty. Let’s just say I am not terribly enthusiastic about it. In fact, I whiled away a great deal of the afternoon walking around the sewage treatment plant and Blissville. If this is not a testament to how distasteful I find this year’s batch of candidates I do not what is. But I digress. Follows are a few highlights from my walk around the crappiest part of Greenpoint. Enjoy!
Green Street
Huron Street
McGuinness Boulevard
Java Street
Greenpoint Avenue
This concludes the Greenpoint segment of today’s sojourn. Later I will post some highlights from the other side of the bridge: Blissville!
