Meet Patience and Fortitude

These two cuties are currently hanging their respective hats at the City Reliquary. While a cool place, they would much prefer to find a new home. Maybe yours?

My tipster, Sarah, writes:

I’m writing to alert you to some Brooklyn kittens in need of a good home! Two twin kitten brothers (I have taken to the term “twittens”) are living right now at the City Reliquary on Metropolitan, and the staff is hoping to find a home for them both where they can live together… would you be at all interested in pimping them out for a good cause? They are living in the museum right now–in the dark, hot, lonely museum! I would add that it takes a good cat to live in a museum and not fuck up anything important – they totally get that.

Anyone interested in getting a little Patience or Fortitude should shoot me an email at: missheather (at) newyorkshitty (dot) com and I will forward it to the appropriate party. Be sure to give me a phone number where you can be reached. NOTE: preference will be given to people who are interested in adopting both kittens. Thanks!

For more pix of these INCREDIBLY adorable kittens click here to see the photo set City Reliquary has put up on their Flickr page. WARNING: these photographs are mind numbingly cute!

UPDATE 6/16/08: I have word these guys have been adopted. However, my friends Lisa and Eva have some ultra-adorable kittens (of all ages) for adoption. Be sure to check out Hooper. He’s a heart breaker!

Trespassing is not allowed. All trespassers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Public urination, however, is perfectly acceptable. Is it just me or is Williamsburg becoming more and more like Park Slope with each and every passing day?

As promised here is a slide show of my cruise up the East River from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to Hunt’s Point, Bronx. There’s a little something for everybody but I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that all you Red Hookers, Greenpointers, Roosevelt Islanders and Riker’s Island curiosity seekers out there will not be disappointed.

Enjoy!

Dog Bowl 2008

Although this event is a ways off yet I wanted to pass along A.S.A.P for two reasons:

  1. Pre-registration is required.
  2. The proceeds of this benefit will go towards launching Dog Habitat, a not-for-profit organization that seeks to rehabilitate abandoned, abused and stray dogs.

Follows is a little information about Dog Habitat. It’s co-founders are Rob Maher and Jay Lombard, Greenpoint residents both. Ron Maher is probably better known to a number of you as the co-owner of District Dog, a canine “boutique” and “spa” located just a doggie dumplin’s throw away from McGolrick Park. Rounding out the organization is Denise Herman, a dog behaviorist and founder of Empire of the Dog.

Dog Habitat’s mission, in their own words:

…is a group of volunteer dog lovers whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and ultimately re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. Our goal is to open one of metropolitan New York City’s largest canine rescue facilities by the end of 2008. DHR will operate as a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation under the auspices of Dog Habitat, Inc., a dog day care, veterinary clinic, training and boarding facility that will open in Brooklyn, NY in Fall 2008.

Those of you who are interested in attended their upcoming “Dog Bowl” fund raiser can pre-register online via Dog Habitat’s web site and by calling or swinging by District Dog.

Attention hipsters, slipsters, scenesters, strollerati, condorati, wannabes, could have beens, might bes and never wases. There’s a new sheriff on Grand Street.

His name is Dick and he’s got a gun.

My advice: lose the trucker hats, ankle boots and 80’s sunglasses and invest in some Kevlar.

PULL!
