Quicklink: G Is For Give Us Shuttle Bus Service!

Lincoln Restler, the co-author of this petition, writes:
In the wake of an unprecedented natural disaster, we are greatly appreciative of the MTA’s remarkable restoration of 84% of subway service. Yet we are extremely concerned about the lack of mass transit access for residents along the L and G subway lines. These trains are not redundant – but essential lifelines for hundreds of thousands of Brooklynites.
As we await the draining of these subway tunnels, we hope the MTA will swiftly expand bus service. We strongly suggest implementation of temporary shuttle bus service along the L and G routes to connect stranded residents to active subway lines.
Speaking as someone whose husband required three hours to get to work today*, I wholeheartedly concur. Sign it and share it, Greenpointers!
As opposed to our Mayor: his “commute” was a mere 25 minutes.
From The New York Shitty Inbox: Bake Sale Tomorrow At PS 84
A lass named Debbie writes:
Hi Heather. Many of us parents in Greenpoint & Williamsburg have been hoping to find a way to involve our kids in Sandy relief, but it’s challenging–especially for younger children. To help them learn about community and the idea of helping each other, we’ve organized an Election Day bake sale to raise money. It will be at PS 84 (where my son is a first-grader). It is a polling place so we hope to capitalize on the nice long lines of voters. I wrote about the sale, and my experiences volunteering with Occupy Sandy in Staten Island, here: http://debbiekoenig.com/2012/11/05/sandy-fundraiser-bake-sale/.
Would you please help spread the word? I’ve also attached the flyer, if that helps. Thanks so much!
Done!

New York Shitty Feral Furniture Watch: North 10 Street Al Fresco Living Suite, Revisited
Filed under: 11211, Feral Furniture, Street Furniture, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
Another sunny (if brisk) day, in North Brooklyn, another walk. And another dispatch as to how the North 10th Street “rustic” living room suite is faring. As you can see the sectional to the right has been moved.
It has also been tagged.
For those of you who are keeping count, this arrangement has been in effect for at least 24 days. The current record holder for feral furniture goes to this specimen on Meserole Street: 53 days.
P.S.: While I am on the subject of matters Department of Sanitation and Department of Transportation, what’s up with this?
Anyone?
