GPWB 9-18-13 CAB Presentation (2) (2)_Page_10

This comes courtesy of an anonymous tipster. Last night at 5:30 p.m. a meeting came to pass at City Hall. Among those invited were our elected officials and Community Board. This was the presentation to be discussed. It contents include— but are not limited to— affordable housing, development of park space and demolition of the Dupont Street sludge tank. Do take a moment to peruse it!

This Weekend: Touch A Truck!

touchatruckNYS

I cannot resist passing this one along. This upcoming Saturday, September 21st, starting at 10:00 a.m. the folks at St. Nick’s Alliance will be hosting “Touch A Truck”. Need I say anything more? In any case I have inquired as to whether there will be a Department of Sanitation vehicle at this event. I have been told they were definitely trying to procure one. Guess we’ll have to go and find out!

Spotted On Franklin Street: ULURP Review Procedure Public Hearing

As dutifully noted by our friends at Save Greenpoint. Those of you who have the ability (I know, 5:00 p.m. precludes a lot of folks from attending— and this meeting was probably scheduled for this time for just this reason) really should go to this…

From The New York Shitty Inbox: A Petition & More

A lady named Kim writes:

Hi Heather,
…I’m one of gals with the SaveGreenpoint gang. I’m been a long time lurker on your site; you always manage to keep me entertained and informed on the hood’s doings. Thanks for that!

I have been at all the CB meetings/rallies about GPL and 77 Commercial and this ULURP business is a bunch of total b.s. However, I have found an angle that is potentially more powerful and even more scary that a wall of 40 story towers, if that’s possible. It’s that ugly word called toxicity.

I’ve created a petition aimed at the State and Governor, and it would be great if you could sign it and pass the word along. You’ve got people’s ears, and they really should hear about this: http://www.change.org/petitions/governor-cuomo-protect-greenpoint-and-our-children-from-toxins-before-it-is-too-late?share_id=gvldDkbLUt&utm_campaign=signature_receipt&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition

Duly passed along! On a (somewhat) related note, this evening Save Domino will be having an event! Follows is the invite, for those of you who are not in the know:
