Spotted On Manhattan Avenue: Missing

These flyers have been popping up all over the Garden Spot. Keep your eyes peeled fellow Greenpointers— and spread the word!
UPDATE, 9:50 p.m.: Thanks to Citizen Christine I can pass along more information about this fellow as posted by Womens Wear Daily (Mr. Ott is a fashion designer).
Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: Walk This Way
This vision hails from 958 Manhattan Avenue. Inasmuch as I can recall it has been in this state for just over a week— perhaps even two. But why dwell on such trivialities? I prefer to see this as an opportunity. This lot could easily pressed into service as a location for a flea market, barbecue, wilderness survival workshops— hell, an enterprising person could simply park a handful of campers, tap into those electrical lines and operate a hostel— or all the previous! And of course there are more pedestrian uses such as a community garden to consider. In any case here it is for posterity. Anyone care to place bets on how long it will remain like this?

I ran into a Polish lady at the Salvation Army store on Manhattan ave. She was wearing leopard print and brown. She told me she always wear no more than 2 colors only.
These lovely shots accompany a nice little photo essay by Stefano Giovannini. Please take a moment to give it a look-see. Great stuff!
Wednesday: GWAPP!
Filed under: 11211, 11222, 11249, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
The nuance/”selective cognition” GWAPP— or at least certain members acting unilaterally therein*— employs to continue their charade of being a “grassroots” community organization continues to amuse and confound yours truly. Per Ms. Holowacz and Mr. Thompson organizing meetings requires work. Yet, since the whole “Greenpoint Boathouse” thing went down (which of course GWAPP, among others, “endorsed”) they have been quite active despite the shortfall of “helpers”/”worker bees”. Why is that?
I’ll be wearing this button at this meeting (while filming it), what about you? I for one really hope this lady (who speaks at 1:19) shows up.
She’s got my vote!
P.S.: North 9 street and Kent Avenue is not Greenpoint. DUH.
*…I am not a butler, maid, chauffeur, or Gigolo.
I am a personal “Life Coach” and will be treated in a professional manor. Our relationship will be close, but boundaries will be outlined before employment. Children and Pet Friendly. My requirements for employment: $10,000 USD per week plus travel expenses, and lodging. I take sunday afternoon off. Non Disclosure Agreement – No problem…
I motivate you to be a better person through etiquette, personal relationship development, skill and behavior modification and tact…
My apologies to David Lee Roth.

As spotted on Huron Street today. An observation (based on personal experience): when food— especially pizza— enters into the picture, you know it is getting serious.

There appears to have been a mishap on Manhattan Avenue.
Glass of (queso) half empty: salsa con queso gone to waste brings a tear to yours truly’s eye.
Glass half full: Old Krupnik is a highly provocative accompaniment to this street feast. The presence of a towel suggests some attempt at a “clean up”. One has to appreciate this kind gestures given they are quite rare nowadays.
Meanwhile on Lorimer Street…
Street meat tartar…
accompanied by pasta.
Bon appetit!

As you can see, gentle readers, something has come to pass in the last few days. Follows are a few thoughts:
- This is one of my favorite landmarks in Greenpoint. In fact one of my all time favorite photos I have ever taken is of this water tower.
- This pisses me off. Big time.
- I suspect a number of the folks reading this list agree with the previous two points.
- Some may find prodigal penises (penii?) hanging from telephone lines offensive. I respect their opinion. However, let’s face facts: a. it does not entail destruction of property b. it is not taking a crap on someone else’s culture.
- I do hope an effort will be made to restore this flag to its previous state.
- I want each and every one of my fellow north Brooklynites to remember this the next time certain pillars of our community extoll upon the benefits of the tourism economy. Straight up: vandalism of this variety is not perpetrated by folks who live hereabouts. Rather, it is the handwork of those who reside outside the community and as such do not treat it with the same level of care and respect as residents do. Or at least this is the only plausible reason/excuse I can find for this.
