From The New York Shitty Inbox: Intrigue On The Deli Front?
This photo was sent to me by a reader we’ll call “T”. There has been a lot of speculation that this is an expansion of the now former “God Bless Deli”at 818 Manhattan Avenue. Makes sense— but as we all know that is not how Greenpoint rolls. I queried the fellows who operate the latter establishment (which is now the USA Deli). They assured me this was not their endeavor and they were none too happy about it. So now we have— or will soon have— a God Bless Deli 2 sans a #1. Oy.

Spotted On Manhattan Avenue: A Vigil For Arlo
Straight up: I am a cat lady. My favorite furkid, the apple of my eye, was found next to a bunch of garbage cans on Huron Street along with three other kittens.
Discarded like trash, Jerzy was the only one who survived.
The person who had a hand in this amazing little guy gracing my life was a dog person. he said something and folks stepped up to the plate. This post, dear readers, is intended to pass this forward. Please show up and voice your support for Arlo and his person. Animal cruelty is reprehensible— be it throwing a litter of kittens out like trash or raising an aggressive dog. There are no bad furkids, only really rotten people.

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Found On Manhattan Avenue
A fellow named Dave writes about the above-depicted fellow:
Miss Heather –
My neighbors found this little guy in front of the 7-11 on Manhattan Ave late Saturday night alone and crying. Very friendly.
I recently emailed you about another cat entirely (turned out to be my neighbor’s cat who had escaped onto the fire escape). I did get some responses as a result of your post however, and have reached out to them to see if they might be interested in fostering. So far no luck. In any case, hoping to reunite a family or find a temporary home. If i didn’t already have two of my own fellas I would happily take this guy on myself.
Much thanks,
Dave
as an aside – I was walking home along Manhattan Ave on Saturday night, and popped into the deli on the corner of Manhattan and Nassau. As I was inside, a bus screeched to a halt outside. The driver jumped out of the bus, ran into the deli and loudly asked the purveyor – “Hey, you got Mentos?”
If anyone knows to whom this fellow belongs— or would like to provide this fellow the forever home he richly deserves— please contact Dave via email at dmblenk (at) gmail (dot) com
Otherwise, thank you Dave for the Mentos anecdote. That made my day!
