The Word On The Street: Smile!

That’s right folks. Nowy Dziennik writes (thanks to a translation given by a readers named Joanna!):

In turn, from the management of the locale we found out that, indeed Polonaise Terrace will be closing and will only be functioning until the 30th of September, although he says the location has not been sold. “We will 100% be closing the restaurant at the end of September, however information regarding the sale is gossip” — said one of the managers of the firm, who also did not want to be named.

The word on the street is this building will be razed so as to building residential property. Given this building is located in a landmark district yours truly finds this interesting. Nonetheless, Nowy Dziennik concludes their tome as follows:

…In turn, according to the zoning map and the information on the Department of Buildings updated and approved by the City Council of New York on July 24 this year, shows that the region at Greenpoint Ave. is currently known. R6A zone. Changing the zoning classification allows for the construction of a 15 foot high apartment than it was before.

Hmm…

Coming Soon To Greenpoint Avenue: New York Sports Club

It would appear the buzz I have heard is true: 147 Greenpoint Avenue, formerly Club Exit, will soon be home to 147 Greenpoint Avenue. I suspect those who have been the aforementioned club’s neighbors in days past, fitness-conscious or otherwise, will find this to be a most welcome development. The last I checked, physical altercations— including “gunplay”— rarely come to pass at health clubs. Of course this being Greenpoint (where the unexpected can and does frequently happen), whose to say?

This amazing map was brought to my attention courtesy of Phil Depaolo. As you can plainly see, the Garden Spot has the dubious distinction of turning out to the polls in less-than-stellar numbers (13%, to be precise). If we want to see things change hereabouts, we need to make our voices heard at the polls. It really is that simple folks. Or, as Pa Heather piquantly puts it:

This is how flaming assholes get into office. Check the numbers on the recent LA mayoral election.

Ever since I have posted the good news about Mr. Gropez’s lack of Photoshop skills (part of which can be seen above), I have been wondering:

Who was the fellow who lost his head?

I suspect my comrade over at the New York Daily News, Celeste Katz, has as well. She writes:

A moustached man with glasses stands between the two in the middle of the original photo…

Well thanks to an anonymous tipster I have ascertained the identity of this fellow… (drum roll please)

Will the Honorable Richard Velasquez, stand up please! Now of course the question (in my mind, anyway) is why Gropez and friends saw fit to remove him. Anyone?

P.S.: You can (and should) see the original New York Daily News article from which I grabbed the above insert by clicking here. Otherwise, you can read the follow-up article wherein Gropez says the Photoshopping is no big deal and he and Hillary are buds by clicking here.

It would appear teddy has been divested of his (?) clothes— but has (re)gained an eye. In any case, he’s not talking. What happens on Greenpoint Avenue stays on Greenpoint Avenue I suppose… (previously)

Indeed it is! Hat’s off to Paul Richard for this piquant method of highlighting some of our local Bloomblight. Bravo!
