From The New York Shitty Inbox: Lost!
A person we’ll call R writes:
Hi Heather,
My tormentor, aka my cat Flip Chazwick, has apparently taken himself on a bit of a walk about. He’s a reformed feral from BARC who is mildly domesticated, meaning he allows me to feed and worship him when in the house, but he also likes to spend a good deal of time out in our yard. We live over on Kingsland so he roams the gardens between Kingsland/Sutton and Nassau/Driggs. He has been gone over 48 hours and with the crazy construction on Sutton I am more worried than usual. If you could post our flier on your website I would really appreciate it.

Clocking in at an impressive 192 proof, I’d hazard to guess if you drink enough of this stuff the odds are quite good you will end up in handcuffs.* (Whether or not they will have hearts on them is another matter, however.)
*Not that I write from personal experience, mind you.

Reader Contribution du Jour: McGolrick Park
Per the tipster who sent me the above image:
(Taken) 4/21, but he was there till 4/22 as garbage piled up around him. This is just an impossible, totally depressing situation. And personally, as someone who grew up in a house where substance abuse was present, it makes me relive the anxiety and sadness I couldn’t wait to get away from – that’s why I’m so sensitive to it, and why I HATE that my kids are exposed to it…

Upon having this aromatic golden stream of goodness brought to our Parks Advocate and (New York City Parks Supervisor)— for two weeks, no less— here’s what she had to say.
New York Shitty analysis:
- Is it appropriate for a civil servant to solicit (via auto-signature) for not-for-profit organization (this being Open Space Alliance North Brooklyn) in an email sent on our (the taxpayers’s) proverbial dollar?
- Indeed, the honey-dipper for this privy is not providing an acceptable level of service— at least when one port-o-let is being pressed into service for a ~1/2 acre of “green space”. I know because people are complaining to me in the hope I can actually do something about it.
- What does a comfort station at Abate Playground have to do with points #1 and #2?
- Just fix it already. Ever heard of Hepatitis?

LAST GASP: WNYC Transmitter Park
Taken May 13, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.
UPDATE, 10:17 p.m.: If a commenter is to be believed, this park is not officially open to the public— not that anyone is actually doing anything about it, mind you. He/she writes:
At around 8:30 P.M. today a local lady was calling 911 on all the people in Transmitter Park in Greenpoint because its not open. 311 and the construction comp dont care. She told me they broke the lock on the gate. I told her there is not any lock nor is there a chain. She stilled just continued to call numbers on her cell. lol
Whoops.
