The aptly-named Prince protects the cat litter against theft at Pets On The Run. Is it just me, or do I sense a stellar product endorsement deal here?

A compelling piece about the ten tower development slated to grace Greenpoint’s waterfront. Yours truly found it compelling that, for example, George Klein (the fellow behind this endeavor) made a$2,500 campaign donation to Christine “Bloomberg’s Fourth Term” Quinn’s Mayoral campaign. Do take a moment and give this a read!

This is what one citizen/tipster beheld at approximately 5:00 p.m. today. He/she did not have much in the way of information— but posed an excellent question:
To whom do I inquire about matters such as this?
That’s easy to answer:
- The 94th Precinct’s Community Affairs Office! They can be reached via telephone at: (718) 383-5298
Secondarily if any of you, gentle readers of Community Board 1, have been a victim of a crime (and I sincerely hope this does not happen)— even if it is as mundane as your car being broken into— file a report with the proper precinct (90th or 94th), forward your report number, a description of the incident, any pertiment photos/documentation, etc. to Community Board 1: bk01@cb.nyc.gov
Although the Community Board has a committee mostly (it is a long story) dedicated to criminal matters/activity, the reality is they are simply issued a sheet of statistics outlining what crimes have come to pass on any given month. That’s it. Don’t be a “statistic”: say something to our Community Board. If we as citizens do not speak up, they cannot follow-up. It really is that simple.
NOTE: The 94th Precinct Community Council does not convene over the summer— otherwise I’d offer this as an avenue to air any/all concerns as well.
From The New York Shitty Inbox: Takin’ Out The Trash!
A fellow named Andrew writes in an email entitled “Trash Party”:
There’s a little petition going on online about getting some more public trash cans around the neighborhood, mostly sponsored by those of us who live/work on West St, would appreciate some word spreading! I know you’re no stranger to the trash problem around here.
GLADLY & DONE!
Oh yeah, if you are wondering what the hell the thing is which graces the beginning of this post, I’ll tell you. It is a discarded take-out container which has been repurposed as a toilet. I happened upon this lovely item on Huron Street just east of West Street recently. We really need to get some action on the illegal dumping (pun completely intended) problem here. Seriously.
Greenpoint Street Art Du Jour: Greenpoint Avenue
These have been popping up all over the neighborhood of late. I myself have amassed three works by Dave Smith— whose web site you can see here!
