Bushwick Gentrification Watch: Courtesy Counts

Lest today’s content has not made it clear today I decided to take a trip “down south”. It has been awhile since I have had the time to knock around East Williamsburg and Bushwick. This is a shame, as I invariably find something interesting. This afternoon was no exception.

It was on Grattan Street that this cheerfully painted bathtub (pressed into service as a planter) caught my eye.

Upon closer inspection I discovered it was part of a larger al fresco living room suite.

The throw pillow is a nice touch, if I may say so myself. I am certain you have undoubtedly noticed (as I did) that the above-depicted street furniture clearly states it is not to be removed. Well, a sign affixed to a nearby chair sheds some light on this.

I cannot agree more. The “new” north Brooklyn is no place for such language. Get some fucking manners. Some of us have kids!

East Williamsburg Photos Du Jour: Reading Is Fundamental

Anyone looking for a little summer reading (molecular biology and quantum physics enthusiasts in particular should take note) look no further. Just go to the corner of Skillman Avenue and Graham Avenue and help yourself. Oh yeah, be sure to bring a ladder!

Reader Contribution Du Jour: Barter In Bushwick

This item (which hails from the Archive Cafe) comes from a lady named Mika who writes:

That one about the drumming-lessons wanted has me stumped. “pay money or after physical therapie” what what what?

Methinks this flier reads “pay money or offer physical therapie”. So if any physical therapists are reading this who would like to learn how to play drums give this person a ring. Your golden opportunity has arrived!

This nifty installation (which is by an artist named Specter) comes courtesy of Luna Park who, it should be noted, has started a rather sweet site called The Street Spot. Check it out!
