It would appear that despite seemingly being stalled and having a partial Stop Work Order* this Scarano Special has a tenant.

Among other things.

*the reason for which is so exquisite it simply must be shared here.

Interesting factoid: this troubled property has netted five Stop Work Orders to date.

Great Moments In Abjectecture: Conselyea Street

If all the suits Rodney Dangerfield wore during his career could be amalgamated into a building this specimen, which hails from 14 Conselyea Street, would be the end product. It should also be noted that this rather diminutive structure (by Williamsburg standards, anyway) appears to have racked up an impressive five Stop Work Orders over the last three years. And if you are wondering about the fence: no, it is not supposed to look like that.

Same song, different verse. And Greenpoint knows the tune all too well.

I wonder what the ferry goers and pier patrons will think of passing by this? I suppose we’ll find out soon enough.

Daily Bloomblight: Happy New Year From 98 Clay Street!

This vision comes courtesy of 98 Clay Street (AKA: 141 Dupont Street) which as many of you recall has been problematic for a very, very long time. Aside from the occasional Stop Work Order this “property” sports a dubious achievement which places it six feet below its peers: a man was found dead here in 2009. In any case, if what I saw this morning is any indication of what 98 Clay Street has in store for 2011 I’d say we’re in for a very exciting year!

Where The Sidewalk Ends

This is the impediment which faced the Mister and I as we endeavored to go to Kenny’s Trattoria last night (we crossed the street because the sidewalk along McCarren Park along Bedford Avenue was a mess). It is located where the Automobile High School ends and Parks Department property astensibly our open space begins. A cordon sanitaire or simple incompetence? I’ll leave you, dear readers, to make the call. All, I’m saying is I saw Parks employees spreading copious amounts of salt at the corner of Bedford Avenue and North 12 Street yesterday morning. Yup.

P.S. and while I am on the subject:

Where’s the sidewalk? I ask because walking on Union Avenue is friggin’ scary.

There should be a sidewalk here.

You have no idea how grimly amusing I find our mayor facilitating over-development by fly-by-night developers such as the shit heap you see at left (there were buildings there once— I swear) and then is seemingly surprised when very people he has enabled to move into north Brooklyn (who will undoubtedly inhabit the edifice to the right) have the temerity to complain.

If anyone from the city is reading this, you might want to send someone over to 126 India Street. There you will find a nasty case of tetanus (and probably a lawsuit) waiting to happen.
