From The New York Shitty Photo Pool, Part I: Brooklyn(‘s) Finest

This find comes from a(nother) Greenpoint rock star, Bitchcakes. She writes:
I was sitting next to this gentleman on the G Train platform at Bedford-Nostrand last night after midnight and saw the “Brooklyn” hand and *loved* it. When we boarded the G, as I passed him, I told him how great I thought it was. Then he pulled out his other hand and told me I could photograph them if I wanted. Hell yeah! Thank you, sir! You rule!
Right on.

Chris Arnade (who took the above photograph) writes:
Great band performing last night at the Sugar Hill Disco.
It was a very odd night. Sugar Hill Disco has been around for forty years, serving the local community. The owner, Eddie, noticing the change in the neighborhood and being “a great business man” has decided to start catering to the younger, whiter crowds.
It was a fun, at times odd, clash of the old with the new.
I got a big hug and invite from Eddie for Thursday Karaoke with the old time crowd. I can’t wait for that.

Bed Stuy Photos du Jour: United With Love Towing
Filed under: 11206, 11211, Bed-Stuy, Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
As if this sight was not interesting enough (I mean, who does not want their automobile towed with amor) I spied something really cool around the corner.
Being the colossal dork that I am I honed in on the old school telephone number immediately: EVergreen 4 4880. My buddy Chris and I, being curious, later swung by 451 Lorimer Street to see what was there today. Guess what?
Salerno’s is still there…
and they still have the same phone number! Inasmuch as things have changed in north Brooklyn it is refreshing to see something that has stayed the same. Methinks I’ll print out a nice glossy photo of the above truck and give it to them. To be continued…?

P.S.: Oh yeah, how can I not resist posting this photo of a rather winsome ham who wanted me to take his picture?
Nice smile!
