New York Shitty Day Starter: Another DOB Complaint Lodged Against 239 Banker Street
Lest the Department of Buildings needs any help verifying this complaint I offer this video, shot August 6, 2012:

New York Shitty analysis:
- The only thing this complainer failed to note is that the owners of 239 Banker Street are violating a Stop Work Order. This is understandable given they have removed the Stop Work Order from their building (which is in and of itself a violation of the law).
- And despite (0r more likely to due to) a Loft Law application, the landlord is going about business as usual…
But I suppose this makes for even more tenants to organize. It is my understanding the Loft Law (and its revision) were intended to preserve the artistic integrity/fabric of our community. Speaking as an artist, I fail to see how stainless steel appliances and $2,700+ a month rent are crucial factors in “displacement prevention”.

Special thanks goes to French Toast for sharing this beautiful, if daunting, image. Closing on a related note, we are under a tornado watch— so be careful out there everybody!

The above image comes from a residnent of Diamond Street. He/she writes on September 15, 2012:
From outside my apartment building.
I have brought this rather ugly item to the attention to the head of the 94th Precinct, D.I. Hurson, among others. While outside of his jurisdiction, hopefully he can help get this loathsome piece of vandalism— to Federal property no less— removed. I have demonstrated— time and time again— I have neither time nor tolerance for this crap. Seriously.
P.S.: This post is dedicated the incredibly motivated Chief of Staff of our City Councilman’s office: Ashley Thompson. This dedicated civil servant saw fit to send me a nastygram calling me (among other things) “hateful” and a “cyberbully” Friday night at 7:47 p.m. Getting a dressing-down about ethics— much less “bullying”— from someone who is albeit two degrees removed from “Gropez” and the machine his protege (her boss) is eagerly facilitating— well, that speaks for itself.

If so, Kevin may very well be your guy!
Do not let this innocent “adopt me face” fool you: this feisty feline is capable of all manner and variety of winsome mischief— and when he isn’t Kevin’s simply resting up for more shenanigans— as I learned at the North Brooklyn Cats adoption event today at Muddy Paws. Enjoy!
Those of you seeking a more mellow companionshould meet “Macaroni”:
This sweet fellow loves to be loved. Today he quietly laid in the lap of one lady visitor for 20 minutes. As you can see from the above image he does not like living in a cage. He wants a lap to call his own— maybe yours? You can learn more about Kevin, Macaroni and their equally adorable (and adoptable) friends by checking out North Brooklyn Cat’s Petfinder page. Check it out!

A cat-loving Greenpointer writes:
My mom found this sweet kitten last night on the corner of Meserole Avenue & Mcguiness Blvd (she lives next door to the abandoned house whose stoop she was on).
Female kitten. Her claws are groomed which makes me assume it is someones (not a stray). She knows how to use the litter box. Extremely friendly (even to my dog, and my moms 2 older cats). Would it be possible to post this on your blog in the hopes of finding her mommy & daddy?
Im going to go to the Greenpoint Vet on Nassau with the same picture in the hopes that perhaps they recognize who she is.
Thank you so much.
In anyone knows to whom this lovely young lady belongs please contact her good Samaritan via email at aniak (at) aol (dot) com
Thanks!
