Bushwick Photos Du Jour: She’s A Knockout
As some of you are probably aware today was the day that Forgotten New York’s Bushwick tour came to pass. Yours truly attended. I had a lot of fun watching Kevin do what he does best! Follows is something that, while not on the itinerary, merits scrutiny. It is in my humble opinion one of the best rides in north Brooklyn— and possibly the entire city. This is saying quite a lot given the automobile in question is a Toyota Corolla. Words cannot describe it. Thankfully I had my camera on me. Coming at you from Menahan Street in living color— and without further ado— here it is.
Yes, those are little boxing gloves concealing this woman’s nipples.
I will be uploading photos from today’s sojourn this evening so stay tuned!

Southside Photos Du Jour: Presenting The Eggman
When I happened upon this very special super hero and his anthropomorphic ovum sidekick on Broadway I knew I had to pass along the glory here on New York Shitty. Not only has this dynamic duo replaced Hongo Killer as yours trulys favorite corporate spokes… um… things but it also gives me an excuse to give props to the original Eggman!
Oooh, Eggman!

Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.
No Dot, you’ve arrived in one of the coolest ‘hoods in New York City: East Williamsburg, May 12, 2010.
Scarecrow: Mm, we might.
Scarecrow: Animals that eat… s-traw?
Tin Woodsman: Some, but mostly lions, and tigers, and bears.
Dorothy: Lions?
Scarecrow: And tigers?
Tin Woodsman: And bears.
The Garden Spot has raccoons, skunks and even a dolphin! The only wildlife I, dear child, have spotted here is this kitty. She strikes me as being harmless. Perhaps Toto should make her acquaintance?
She holds court next door: 55 Orient Avenue.
I have written this twice before and I’ll write it once again:
I strongly believe people respond to the environment around them. This is why I am a big fan of public art especially in our subway system. Gestures as grand as a mosaic or as simple as keeping public facilities neat and clean send a positive message. The vigilance (or this case, lack thereof) with which our municipal government enforces the laws put in place to preserve our, the citizenry’s, quality of life speaks volumes about their attitude as public servants.
This is unacceptable. No one should have to live with this.

From The New York Shitty Inbox: HELL, NO! & A Huron Street Kitten Update
Filed under: 11221, 11222, East Williamsburg, East Williamsburg Brooklyn, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic
This item comes courtesy of my friend and “foster mom” of the Huron Street kittens: Lisacat. She writes:
Hi Heather,
This show opened at the St. Cecilia Convent last night. I haven’t been yet but while taking some photos, the artist who actually made the “Hell, No!”, RJ Supa, waved from the steps. He gave me a press release and we chatted a bit. His hair was perfect… I’m intrigued and plan to go to one of the nights coming up this week. Lots happening at St. Cecilia’s lately! Rock ‘n’ roll in the school, dog training classes in the basement, tomato planters in the churchyard, film shoots and art all over the place… You can find more info on the convent show here.
P.S.: …the Huron kittens (which we have named Anna and Jerzy* — Ed. Note) are doing ok. They are still “runty” but eating and playing. I swear photos are coming soon 🙂

Williamsburg Photos Du Jour: Life Goes On
Luis Rivera might be gone, but life has gone on at Bedford Avenue and North 1st Street. Not only is north Brooklyn’s favorite gorilla looking pretty dapper nowadays but it would appear he is looking for a little online companionship! In all seriousness, I am really happy to see this Bedford Avenue institution continue.
