Reader Contribution Du Jour: Lorimer Street Nightmare
anonymous writes:
Hi Heather. Thought you might appreciate this. This is on the corner of Metropolitan and Union – the Lormier L train dumps everyone on the street to wait for crowded buses. What a nightmare for all.
Indeed. Dare I say this makes the riding Crosstown Local look good.

Greenpoint Halloween Watch: Fun On Freeman
Filed under: 11206, 11211, 11222, 11237, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic
Since today was slightly less abysmal than yesterday weather-wise I decided to stroll around the upper-alphabets (READ: Ash through Freeman Street). It was on Freeman between Franklin and West that I found a most spooky house!
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here!
Beware!
I suppose it goes without saying that Halloween is yours truly’s favorite holiday. It would appear to be a favorite of my fellow Garden Spotters as well: without argument some of the finest Halloween decor I have seen in this fair city hails from the 11222 zip code. If any of you, dear readers, stumble upon a Halloween house extraordinaire in the greater Williamspoint or Greenwick area I would be very grateful if you would share them with me (so I, in turn, can share them with our fellow north Brooklynites). Please send your sightings to:

Be sure to include an address and/or intersection.

Crosstown Local Photo Du Jour: ENOUGH!
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Crosstown Local, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
Not content with sending forth an army of canvassers to troll north Brooklyn on Sunday evenings to hit unsuspecting citizen’s buzzers, spewing forth enough printed material to leave a carbon footprint the size of Texas and— lest we forget— there are the never-ending television commercials; Mayor Mike has taken the good news about his run for a third term to the G train. En Espanol, no less.
For the love of god, make it stop.

P.S.: The more eagle-eyed among you might recognize where this photograph of Michael Bloomberg being warm and fuzzy with the peasantry was taken. If not, I’ll tell you: Keap Street at South 3rd Street in Williamsburg. This intersection is located not too far from the infamous “Broadway Triangle”. (Insert irony points here.)

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Dog Habitat Gets A Very Special Caller
Filed under: 11206, 11211, 11222, Crazy Cat Lady, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic
I recently bumped into Rob Maher one of the minds behind Unleash Brooklyn and Dog Habitat. He told me about something really neat which happened recently. It involves the above lass. Her name is Spooky and this is her story:
Spooky found us. No, really! She walked up the stairs and sat on our front door just before the temperature dropped this fall. She is about six months old. She is extremely friendly, but in need of some personal attention and lots of love.
Anyone interested in learning more about this street smart Greenpoint girlie— or wants to make your home Spooky’s permanent haunt— please shoot the guys (and gals) of Dog Habitat an email at: rescue (at) doghabitat (dot) org. They can also be reached via telephone at: (347) 601-8678.
Thanks!
