What can one say about this item (as found in Greenwood Heights by lostinbrooklyn) other than perhaps “Wow, this is really offensive”? Are any of you, dear readers, fluent in Russian? If so, please do yours truly the favor of translating the label of this delightful product. My curiosity is killing me.

The brand name (at the top, ???????) is a colloquial term for a snack you have when you drink vodka. Although Russians drink vodka neat and room temp, they always have a little bite right after to cut the taste. Usually a pickle, a piece of rye bread or some pork fat, spread with something spicy. And as it says in English at the bottom, this is a mustard mayo spread.
As to why it has a black guy in a Russian costume I wouldn’t hazard to guess. This is why I don’t live in Brighton Beach, I guess, cuz they wouldn’t find this offensive at all.
