Looked up the quote. It is from one Elbert Hubbard, one mother whose cupboard was not bare of axioms. Other EH gems:
“Genius is only the power of making continuous efforts.”
“Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped.”
“There is no failure except in no longer trying.”
“To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.”
“Don’t take life too seriously; you’ll never get out of it alive.”
Prolific little fellow, wasn’t he? And according to wikipedia, L. Ron Hubbard was related through an adoption somewhere along the family tree. Who knew?
I think I want to see some numbers here. How much do we currently expend on Books? And on Bubble Gum? We need to know how hard it would be to become a civilized country.
You never cease to amaze me Rexlic.
I for one like:
Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped.
No shit.
North American book sales (2007) were around $12 billion.

Gum sales (chewing and bubble) in the USA were around $4 billion. Toss in Canada and Mexico and it might be about even at best.

Unfortunately we are still a long way from civilized.
Tell me what you're thinking...
