What Is Wrong With This Picture?
I stared at this poster for a good five minutes before I finally got up the gumption to take a photograph of it. Naturally my fellow Crosstown Local patrons were curious as to what I found so interesting. So I showed them.
CHANGE IS: a copy editor who needs a refresher course in geography.
Everyone within earshot found my discovery quite amusing. A man to my right summed it up beautifully when he said:
What do you expect? It’s the G train.
Our humble subway line might take its (well deserved) lumps. Sure it is crowded. Granted, it is slow. Very slow. But at least we know where we’re going.

Liberia’s a city in Costa Rica as well as an African State!
So, in reality, there’s really nothing wrong with this picture. In fact, Liberia, Costa Rica is really quite nice.
Frankly, I don’t know why anyone would want to fly to either of the Liberias. But I also don’t know why anyone would ever want to take the G train.
The truth of the matter is when people see the word “Liberia” they think of the country, not the city. This is due to Charles Taylor, a very delightful chap. This as copy is poorly written and is in sore need of some disambiguation.
Otherwise, I do not think people WANT to ride the G train. It is a necessity for a lot of people. Like me.
I ride the G train happily (and I got a seat this morning).. but before I read the comments, I was going to say maybe Delta has a sense of humor and was doing a joke a la Arrested Development with Portugal being in South America.
siding with JanelleGee here: the G train can be deplorable at times but for the most part it is convenient for me to use. i live a block away from it. it arrives more frequently during morning commuting hours and i’m rarely waiting very long at Court Square to return home.
i notice that the people who tend to malign it do not use it all that often. for all it’s little quirks and antics, the G train has grown on me.
Tell me what you're thinking...
