Gratuitious Food Porn: Got Babka?

Remember the babkaporn I featured a little over a week ago? If not, the following should jog your memory.

Today as I walked by Jubilatka Bakery I succumbed to temptation and picked up one of these bad boys for Christmas dinner. It set me back $18.00 dollars, but what the hell? We only live once.

Luca, our household capo, was nonplussed with my newly-acquired chocolate gingerbread creation. Mind you Luca also grunts, snorts, farts and licks his ass on occasion. While a loving companion, a gourmand Luca is most decidedly not. I, on the other hand, can’t wait to give this a try. Yum!

  2. Related conversation with my cat, Renny (who looks like Luca):

Me: “Renny, could you please not lick yourself so intensely down there so early in the morning?”

Renny: “What’s the problem? A little fudge, a little sausage, a little nuts: it’s a German breakfast.”

  4. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth so the babka isn’t tempting, but I did try Karczma last week and it was phenomenal! The atmosphere was pretty cool also, rustic-y and a lot bigger than it looks from the front. The Polish beer is great too, I had a Lech.

  6. What I like about babka (when made properly) is it isn’t too sweet. Just enough to please, but not so much as to overwhelm and/or send one into sugar shock!
