Christmas Comes Early To Long Island City

It would appear that Santa and his little helpers are busy dismantling what is arguably the ugliest building in Queens and possibly the entire city. I suspect I speak for many when I say goodbye and good riddance.

  2. Yeah, but I’ll bet there’s not a park going up in its stead. What new architectural marvel will be built there?

Just throw in a few balconies and it’ll be in like Flynn!

The Verizon building at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge and faces my favorite borough is the ugliest building in the city. Nothing even comes close.

  8. Heather: Good one!

dc 108: While “ugliest” is in the eye of the beholder, the Verizon building is pretty damn ugly. My vote for ugly is usually a building that doesn’t fit into its neighborhood, like the “Blue” building off Delancey Street, or that undulating piece of crap at Astor Square.
